world of cool things. From live Music by new bands of
the Mexican Ranchera variety, to great deals on Bicycles,
Food, House hold goods and plenty of Sunshine. Hey, its the
east side. The Alameda Swap Meet is a fun visit and a regular
happening on most Sundays. Located South of Downtown, on
Alameda somewhere between our Skateboard ride South to
Manchester last Sunday a whirl wind ride & Recent Photo
Essay Session which provided a bevy of great new Images
to The BUREAU Magazine Archive for future Articles.

BUREAU MUSIC : NEW BANDS IN LOS ANGELES

SAN PEDRO has always been a big part of creating
and continuing the tradition of Punk Rock Music.

Local kids kept it alive through the years. Mike Watt
being the most prominent. [Google Mike Watt for more
on his influence in San Pedro] There is something about
the salty air, the blue collar lifestyle and the pirate like
aspect of this sleepy little port town that fits perfect
into the deeper rebelious aspects of the punk rock
credo and code of conduct. The BUREAU of ARTS
and CULTURE caught an impromptu - ish Jam Session
over at BADFISH Tattoo and Boutique with a new Band
appropriately named WHAREHOUSE ONE. A sort of
Power Pop styling of lets say, One Part Pennywise, One
Part Sublime, throw in a healthy amount of KROQ like
influence and there you have it, Shake vigorously and serve
over ice in whatever vessel is available. We were waiting for
the kids to start a slamming session or mosh pit as it is
called these days, and sure enough they gave it a try.
The band was tight. Just a few months in the public eye
though, one senses they put some serious hours into the
garage sessions prior to going public. We like it and
know you will too. As this was a casual setting and have
no contact information, we suggest you google BADFISH,
WHAREHOUSE ONE and see what pops up. The joys of
photographing and writing about our fair city while lurking
the streets at night always bring discovering suh as this.

BEST FILM SHOOT IN L.A. : The RAKE T.V. Pilot

The BUREAU of ARTS and CULTURE recently visited the
Film Set of a new series Pilot being shot here on the streets
of Los Angeles. Directed by Spider Man's Sam Raimi and
starring Greg Kinear as a RAKE, also the title of the SERIES,
which is already a big hit over seas. This is the American version
& looks to be interesting. Kinear brings a quirky realism to most
projects and we could use his talents on television. He has taken
some serious stories on in the independent film world in the past
decade, proven himself to be a serious artist and performer.
Most of the crew memebers were cool to us and watching Sam
and Greg work together was interesting and informative. Hey,
they were filming in front of our studio, we even made a few bucks.

If film crew members are respectable to their neighbors and
locations, keep the place clean when they are finished & don't
make too much noise or act rude to the locals, they are always
welcome on the streets of L.A. If they don't treat us appropriately,
than other cities will continue to be the places they will go to for
film shoots and they will have no one to blame but themselves.
Hollywood insiders and those on the outside need to stay away
from politics, religion and influences that don't drive sales, story
and creativity. Anyone who abuses their power as a group is doomed
to be nothing but an oppresive influence in a world that abhors such
traits. Thank You SAM and GREG, two Career Artist with much
talent and style.
